The Yoga of Sound (Book)
8 Dec 2004
Cultivating the Yogic Voice
Get initiated into the world of sense chanting would Russill Paul’s enticing new book and CD package. Paul's approach to personal healing and transformation, which bears the same title as this book, incorporates four components of the yogic practice: Shabda (“word”), Shakti ("energy"), Bhava ("devotion"), and Nada ("the medium of sound").
Readers can experience his wonderful teaching personally by following the instructions and accompanying music/chanting on the included compact disc.
As a former monk and disciple of father Bede Griffiths, this talented communicator brings a truly cross-cultural spiritual perspective to his audience. Well read in the Vedic traditions, he is always willing to give readers and listeners a little more background on the lesser-known aspects (at least to Westerners) off yoga. And Paul makes his agenda clear: it is time for aficionados of popularize yoga to incorporate a yoga of sound into their teachings and practices.
