DVD Review: Exploring the Christian-Hindu Dialogue

Dear friend,

First, I want to wish you for the New Year. I pray that it
is one of great spiritual growth, great joy and great
prosperity for you and your loved ones. Often, we have a
tendency to carry over our cynicism or other negative
attitudes into the New Year. While external circumstances
may validate such thinking, we want to make a conscious
effort, especially at this early juncture, to believe in
new beginnings with a freshness of heart and spirit. Spend
a few minutes each day visualizing what you would like this
year to be for you and for the world. Fuel these
meditations with the mantra Om Tat Sat, which means: “that
is truth”, or “and so it is”. This is an extremely powerful
mantra, used at the end of many sacred texts and uttered by
many a great soul and yogi. Mantras help fuel our
intentions. Visualize what you want, feel its
materialization in a concrete way and then use the mantra
to energize the intention. The sound of the mantra helps
cut through doubt and resistance and channel spiritual
energy into our intention. We must believe in our personal
power to affect positive change in the world and do what we
can -- combine sound, vision and feeling -- to assist in
the process. It does make a difference!

Apr 06 - 08: EASTER WEEKEND AT KRIPALU IN LENNOX,
MASSACHUSSETS
TITLE: PUTTING THE EAST BACK IN EASTER
Description: This year I intend to take the dialog between
yogic spirituality and Christian mysticism deeper by
exploring some key terms such as, Saccidananda: the Hindu
term for Godhead, Purusha: the cosmic person of the Vedas,
and the great Mahavakyas (great statements) of the
Upanisads. These explorations will be conducted within the
context of meditation and mystical practices followed by
periods of dialog and reflection.
If you have not read my website article on this title, I
invite you to read it at:

Kripalu Center for Yoga and Health is one of the leading
yoga centers in the west that is founded upon a rich sense
of tradition. Located in the beautiful Berkshires with
panaromic views of the mountain, this onetime Jesuit
retreat facility is the perfect setting for an Easter
retreat.

in-house guests
Saturday, April 7, 2007.
I will also be offering an evening kirtan titled “One
world, One Heart” that is open to the public on Satuday
evening, which I will present along with Kripalu drummers
who are fantastic musicians. Come prepared to liberate your
voice and dance your prayers to rich musical accompaniment.
The intention of this evening’s kirtan is moksha, the
liberation of the soul that is the true significance of
Easter.

MAY 04 - 06: WEEKEND RETREAT IN NOTTINGHAM, NEW HAMPSHIRE
TITLE: OPENING THE MYSTIC HEART
I return to New England in May to present a whole weekend
at the Nottingham Community Church in New Hampshire, a
church founded upon Unitarian Universalism, a liberal
religion that keeps an open mind to the religious questions
people have struggled with in all times and places. They
believe that personal experience, conscience and reason
should be the final authorities in religion, and that in
the end religious authority lies not in a book or person or
institution, but in ourselves. UU also identifies itself as
a "non-creedal" religion, so they do not ask anyone to
subscribe to a creed. For more information on their
principles and purpose, I invite you to visit their website
www.uua.org, or select the link:
http://www.uua.org/aboutuua/principles.html

The theme of this workshop/retreat is titled “Opening the
Mystic Heart”. You may learn more about this event through

MAY 11-13: WEEKEND WORKSHOP IN DELRAY BEACH, FLORIDA
TITLE: AWAKENING THE MYSTIC HEART:
Exploring how sound, music and chant can heal.
Description: During this weekend, we will immerse ourselves
in the experience of sacred sound in combination with
mystical practices for the purpose of healing. The programs
offered include a Friday evening lecture and discussion, an
all day workshop on Saturday workshop and a Saturday
evening Kirtan of ecstatic chanting.

Come and join us for a powerful weekend of chant,
meditation and transformative spirituality in beautiful
DelRay Beach. Known worldwide as a first-class resort town,
Delray Beach is located in Southern Palm Beach County,
directly on the Atlantic Ocean, offering the visitor the
incomparable beauty of nearly two miles of well-groomed,
easily accessible beach.

I return to DelRay Beach at the invitation of opera singer
and sound healer Laura di Bello. Laura Di Bello is a sound
healing therapist. A member of the Sound Healers
Association, she works as sound healing consultant for the
Orchid Recovery Center for Women in Palm Springs, Florida,
and lectures as a part of integrative medical lecture
series at hospitals such as Holy Cross Hospital in Fort
Lauderdale FL., Hospice programs such as Hospice By the
Sea in Boca Raton , FL and for holistic nurses
associations, fitness centers & yoga studios. Laura
received her classical vocal training at the Boston
University Tanglewood Institute as well as through over
fifteen years of private study. She is currently performing
with the Master Chorale of South Florida and teaches
private vocal study. Her interest in sound healing began
when researching various world spiritual cultures and
discovering their commonality in utilizing the voice as a
modality for healing and transformation.

Exploring the Christian-Hindu Dialogue: A Visit with Bede
Griffiths
31 minute interview, $20
Published by Inner Growth Books and Videos, LLC
View the product and a transcript of the interview with
Bede at
http://www.innerexplorations.com/catew/5.htm

Were Bede Griffiths alive, he would be a hundred years old:
December 17th, last year, marked the hundredth anniversary
of his birth. In the early nineties, when Bede was visiting
with us in the U.S., Jim Arraj, the founder of Inner Growth
Books and Videos recorded this rather moving interview. It
is a simple, straightforward format, and this directness
makes the experience come alive. Jim and his wife Tyra are
extraordinary people who live in the woods of Oregon. They
have built their own eco-friendly home that runs on solar
power; home schooled their children, and support themselves
through an extensive offering of books, CD and video
related to mysticism and East-West dialog. Jim is a
prolific author. He write intelligently and insightfully.
Please visit their website www.innnerexplorations.com for
an excellent selection of articles and a gold-mine of
unusual resources related to the inter-spiritual dialog.

Wishing you every blessing for the New Year,

In One Spirit,

Russill Paul
