An exciting extension to our Pilgrimage in January 2009
Louisville, KY, interview by Teen Peace Casters

Hi Everybody,

I hope you are doing well and enjoying the summer. First,
I want to apologize for the newsletter that went out a few
days ago. As you would have noticed, this was an old
newsletter. We were doing some work on our website and it
was sent accidentally. Here is the real newsletter for
this month …
YOGIC MYSTERY SCHOOL

enthusiastic response to our Yogic Mystery School Program.

you are still interested in signing on for our July 01

SPECIAL EXTENSION TO OUR PILGRIMAGE
ARUNACHALA – A HINDU SHAMBALA

We are thrilled about offering a special extension to our
pilgrimage in January 2009 that culminates in Arunachala, a
sacred mountain that is a Hindu Shambala. The word
Shambala, as you may know, is very sacred to the Buddhists.
However, it is derived from the Sanskrit word of the same
sound and spelling and means, “a place of peace and
happiness”. Much like Jerusalem, Shambala is in reality a
spiritual place within us that an actual geographical
location can awaken. Arunachala is such a place in the
South of India.
After the main pilgrimage is over, those who are taking
this extension will stay on for a week- long immersion into
meditative silence. We will be meditating for extended
hours during this period while maintaining a flexible
external and interior silence. We conducted this experience
for five days two years ago and had such a phenomenal
experience that we are repeating it with an additional two
days.
Following this "Journey into Transformative Silence”, we
will be making a 3-day journey to the sacred mountain of
Arunachala where the great mystic Ramana Maharshi lived and
taught. This is one of India’s most powerful spiritual
locations.
We were there a couple years ago for a day and a half and
have decided to double our time there because of the
extraordinary experience we had. There are three important
sites here: the great temple of Arunachaleeshwara that is
associated with the fire aspect of Shiva, the mountain of
Arunachala where Ramana meditated in caves that we can
access today; and his beautiful ashram at the foot of this
mountain. Those who are taking this extension will be
journeying with us for an entire month. You can read
detailed information about this experience by clicking on
the link below …

LOUISVILLE, INTERVIEWED BY TEENS

I am so grateful to have completed my travels for the
spring of this year. As you know, I have been on the road
since early January with my last stop in Louisville,
Kentucky. The highlight of this trip was being interviewed
by two teenagers from Peace Casters, the latest program
created by cultivating connections.org, an interfaith
organization that empowers youth to explore messages of
peace and Corporation through digital media. Cultivating
Connections is based in Louisville and directed by Marc
Steiner who also organizes an annual Festival of Faiths.
These young people edit and create original ideas by going
out to the community and interviewing leaders of various
faith traditions and visiting speakers to the area. They
do a little research before each interview and develop
their own questions. I was amazed at the questions these
14 year olds asked me, the most striking one being, "How do
you think the Yoga of Sound contributes to other religious
traditions?" I am hoping to receive the footage of this
interview and post it on our website. I think you'll enjoy
it.
And while we are on the subject of interviews, I hope you
read the article "No More Noise" in the fitness magazine
Experience Life’s May issue. This article, I believe, is
indicative that the mainstream is finally beginning to take
note of the value of sound in health: a leap to be
celebrated. If you have not read this article, here is the
link for your convenience …

Wishing you a warm, glorious and fun-filled summer!

Love,

Russill
