Namaste and a Happy New Year to you. Asha and I arrived last week from India and have lots of news to share with you; however, I am heading off for the Bahamas tomorrow, so I will make this brief.
BAHAMAS: I am looking forward to my time with the Sivananda Yoga community in Nassau this weekend. The program titled “On the Wings of Song: An Interfaith Spiritual Singing and Sacred Dance Festival” brings together talented spiritual musicians and dancers from around the world. My brother Ajay Sharma from Hari Om Mandir in Pennsylvania will be performing with me.

KRIPALU APRIL 10 – 12: Next, I will be at Kripalu for Easter to present my annual retreat “Putting the East back in Easter”. This year, I will be drawing heavily from my new book Jesus in the Lotus: The Mystical Doorway between Christianity and Yogic Spirituality, which I recently finished (literally a few weeks ago) after several years of working on it. It ships to stores on April 4. I will have more to say about this soon, but you can read about it on my website.

It is good to be back in the U.S., and despite all the financial turmoil, I feel confident that we will pull through this phase to a better tomorrow with a refined set of values and a more balanced economy. However, spiritual practice is the key to peaceful and contented inner life, no matter the economy we have today or the kind we will have tomorrow. I do not need to tell you that true meaning and value in life can only be derived from a healthy spiritual practice, so please continue to create more time in your life for spiritual practice.
