Namaste Y’all,

I hope this finds you in deep peace, despite the many reasons we all have to feel differently. One of the big issues on the table right now is the BP oil spill situation that is in all of our minds. I have prepared a video series in response to this that I would like to share with you and you can share it with anyone else you want to. Originally, I was going to do it for my online students who are engaged in Yogic Mystery School, but then decided that it would benefit a larger community, especially as the issue is affecting us all rather deeply. The key premise of the presentation is to start with a positive outlook so that, whatever our response, it comes from this place of positive energy. This is a way that we can approach all situations in our life, however disastrous, and it is crucial if we are to lend positive energy to the efforts in process.

Feel free to share this video page with anyone - friends, family or co-workers - if you feel that it will be helpful to them.

Second, that group chanting can be a powerful means of focusing intention in prayer. I call this the 100th monk effect, a spin on the 100th monkey effect, suggesting that by groups chanting for a common intention, a tipping point towards a successful outcome can be facilitated. However, this must begin from a place of optimism and positive visualization if our efforts are to lend value to the solution. I extrapolate upon this in the video series. Finally, I have featured a chant that I have found helpful one that I have used in workshops specifically to pray for the oil situation; however, you can use it as a reference to create your own to bring people together around generating positive energy on the healing process now in effect.

MONTREAL – OCT 1 to 3: My video response to the oil spill situation was galvanized by a post from one of our students from Montreal, who, incidentally, is organizing one of my workshops at a spectacular location in the Laurentian mountain region outside of Montreal this fall.

HOLLYHOCK, BC, IN TWO WEEKS: Speaking of spectacular locations, I will be in Hollyhock in a couple of weeks on the other side of Canada.British Columbia, as you may know, is still a pristine environment and I am looking forward to seeing friends again on Cortes Island who have travelled with us to India and others who are in Yogic Mystery School. There is still time to make it if you are interested. The food at Hollyhock alone is worth the trip: master chefs put together gourmet vegan and vegetarian dishes created with organic ingredients grown in their garden. They also serve a great selection of meat and seafood dishes. Most of all, it is the awe inspiring quiet coupled with the stunning views of the ocean, including hot tubs that are right on the ocean front.

SOUTHFIELD, MI – AUGUST 20 to 21: For those of you who can’t make it to Hollyhock, I would like to invite you toSouthfield, Michigannext month. This is a sweet and intimate experience in a charming location. Alex Riegel, who host's this event, is a wonderful and truly dedicated Unitarian minister. The church is an elegantly simple and prayerful building with amazing acoustics and convenient lodging is located right around the corner. You may contact Alex Riegel at alexriegel@post.harvard.edu to learn more.

Finally, we have a report of our pilgrimage this year on line. Those of you who are on our snail mail list have received this already. However, those of you who just receive our electronic communications can read it using the following link:

TRANSFORMATION IN TRAVEL: http://www.russillpaul.com/articles/article/1162784/144245.htm “We would like conclude this report with a funny incident that happened during our visit to the gypsy village. Everyone was shooting pictures of the kids who were excitedly clamoring for their pictures to be taken. A young girl, about ten years old, wanted to view her picture off the camera but the pilgrim who took it could not figure out how to retrieve the image and gestured an apology. The girl sensitively took hold of the digital camera, deftly maneuvered the camera buttons, and in no time retrieved the picture to everyone’s amazement and amusement. Our gypsy friends are doing well in many ways and on many levels, not to mention becoming technology savvy despite not owning or having access to computers. It is so wonderful to witness their progress, year after year, and particularly their ability to improve their lifestyle without losing touch with their roots.” (Extracted from our 2010 pilgrimage report)

Wishing you well in all that you are doing this summer,

In One Spirit,

Russill
